Topic: Guarded Tongue
Text:Col 4: 5-6, Eph 4:29-32

Col 4:6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Eph 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Titilayo had this habit of insulting people around her, not always intentionally. She was not aware it was hurtful, and not everyone will take it as a joke as she does.
A day came, she was chatting with her friends and all she did was exaggerate the incident with unwholesome talk, not knowing the sister to whom she was referring was in their midst. This broke the girl and led to a big fight between them.

'Think twice before you talk' cannot be overemphasized. The Bible teaches us not to let any unwholesome talk slip out from our mouths, but only things that are helpful. Eph 4:29 At times when you are confused about what to say, silence will do a lot and save you from a lot of trouble.

In the world today, especially the part we find ourselves in, Offensive words like 'Ode' (foolish) are used as normal slang that can be said to other people but when said to the speaker themselves they might flair up. Why do others what you cannot accept?

In situations like this, we might find ourselves guilty, there's always room for change. Today, make it a lifestyle to guard your tongue, and it becomes part of you.

Prayer: Lord sanctify my tongue, and make every word that comes out of it a blessing to others.

By peace NGDW
