YIELDING TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Topic: Yielding to the Holy Spirit

Text: Gal 5:16 and Rom 12:2

Gal 5:16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.

Rom 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is good, pleasing, and perfect will.

To yield to the Holy Spirit means to surrender to the Holy Spirit.

The function of the Holy Spirit is to teach (John 14:26), guide and protect.

When you yield to the Holy Spirit, you give up your own ideas and effort and put yourself in his hand.

Peace loves God and has the Holy Spirit, but little did she know that she is back sliding, she wants to dress, dance, speak, and, act like worldly people. A day came when she was watching a Music Video and the Holy Spirit whispered to her that 'is it this the life without Christ she would like to be living?' Immediately she left the scene and all thoughts of worldliness left her.

The Holy Spirit cannot watch to see us fall.

At times when we need to speak to a large crowd, we ask the Holy Spirit to help us, who will be sure to deliver.

How then can we yield to the Holy Spirit?

 You cannot yield to someone you cannot trust either do you know. 

•Firstly you have to stop your sinful way of life, the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in a dirty place. So, you have to purge everything that does not look like Christ 

•Invite the Holy Spirit into your life, tell him to dwell in you. The tongue is very powerful it can bring blessings or curses, so we have to prophesy to ourselves what we want.

•Prepare your mind not to go back to sinful nature and do away with everything that can cause you to sin again. 

After receiving the Holy Spirit then you can yield to him.

Remember, sin sends away the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit cannot dwell in a filthy soul.

Prayer: Lord, grant me the grace to yield to the Holy Spirit 🙏🏿
