FLEE FROM ACCURSED THINGS....sins are accursed things that God detest so much BY FAITHFULNESSII NDGW

Thursday, 16th of February 2023 Devotion. 

Topic: Flee from the accursed thing.
Text: Joshua 7:12-13
        _12. “Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies because they were accursed: neither will I be with you anymore, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.”_
         _13. “Up, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against tomorrow: for thus saith the Lord God of Israel. There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.”_
     

Merciful and compassionate is our God in heaven, what He says He will do, that is what He will do. The Israelites were beloved of God, He took them away from their enemies in Egypt, He performed miracles and fought for them until they got to the promised land. 
 

Despite God's love for them, they kept sinning against Him. He had instructed them that they do away with accursed thing(s) when they had almost gotten to the promised land, but one of them went against the instruction, and He took with Him things that God has forbidden for them to touch or take. 


This action led to Him going against His promise of being with them anymore. Their enemies which could not withstand them now became 'a Goliath' which they were afraid to stand before (Joshua 7:12).


But when they made amends, He revived His promise and assured them of victory. (Joshua 8:1).
.Sins are accused things that God detest so much, He loves us truly and would not want any harm to come to us but if we are not ready to flee from those things He's forbidden and caused, that means we are indirectly making ourselves forbidden by Him and paving ways for harm to come to our ways. 


God loves us, but to enjoy His fullness and glory, we must totally flee from those things He hates.


*Prayer*
Our Father in heaven, please help our discernment to know the accursed things and flee from them. Teach us to abide by your will and forsake all you have caused. Amen.
