_” We love Him because He first loved us”._
“My life has been nothing near joy but sorrow, I have houses, cars, companies, farm lands… I sleep and wake up in affluence. I'm clothed with riches that if I don't even work till old age, I will never be hungered, but still no joy, no one wants to give me that thing which I lack, I have tried to purchase it with all that I have, but all have proved abortive. I just want to give up, I can never have it”.
Miss Biola bewailed to me.
I looked at her and tears rolled down my cheeks, I felt so bad for her. I controlled my tears as she only opened up to me, so I could console her, it would be unreasonable of me to keep shedding tears in front of the one I should console.
“Ma'am, I feel your pain, but you still haven't told me what it is you lack that causes you to grieve this much”.
I said.
“It's Love!, love dear, I'm tired, no one loves me, even my families are interested in my money and not a serious relationship with me, I have tried to buy the love of a man for husband, but no, it was fruitless”.
She bemoaned inconsolably. “Wow! Love of man”. I said. Then I asked her if she knew of a love never purchased with money, and she replied “NO”. Her reply gave me where I could start consoling her. I asked her if she believes in God and she said,
“well, I hear of Him, but I don't, I've read a lot and all means to find out about His Existence have all been fruitless and I can't even stoop so low to believe in what I can't see. What we can't see or touch does not exist. He doesn't exist!”
I was shocked by her reply, I was dumbstruck for a while, I took my time before saying anything to her, I prayed and asked that the Holy Spirit intervene. Holy Spirit did, I began to speak to her about God, the one in which there's _true love_. I spoke with her about how He allowed His son to die for our sake, I gave different scenarios of how God has proved to be God in the scriptures and concerning her not able to know His source of existence, I quoted the book of Romans 11:33 to her, which says;
_”O the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His Judgements and His ways, pass finding out!”_
She heard this and she wept bitterly. Even before hearing me explain, she understood already. Holy Spirit took over. I was glad.
She got to understand where she was missing out. She was not aware of the _true love_ and could not have reciprocated it.
She was seeking love where there was no love. A true love that births all other love was not known to her. I asked her to study the Bible more and get deep into it. She did.
A few days later, she came to tell me of how happy and fulfilled she had been lately. The joy that she had never enjoyed was all she felt lately and to crown it all, she had found one who loved her dearly and ready to grow old with her. Her families have grown in love for her and amongst family members generally.
Miss Bola has everything, but lack one thing, which is 'love'. Her quest for love made her find a true Love. A lover who never disappoints, fail promise and it is unconditional. His love is not gained by anything we do in our merit. The Bible states that God loved us while we were still sinners; His love abounds from His infinite goodness and mercy.
Likewise, to everyone going through certain phases in life, Christ love you and see all that you do. We should endeavor to seek diligently like a true son or daughter of God
*PRAYER*_
Father Lord, we pray that you help us to know the true love, so we will not go and find love where there is no love and that we may requite your love. Amen
