How to test and be assured that we are saved. "For the spirit bear witness that we are children of God" by Kindness from NGDW
Saturday, September 17th, 2022 Devotion.
Text:Romans 8:15-16
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “ABBA, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.(Romans 8:15-16, NK JV)”
Have you at any time in your Christian Sojourn wondered about the authenticity of your salvation and doubted if you were truly saved? Well, in today's devotion we'll be seeing and understanding how to test and be assured that we are saved. A believer can at a time in his or her life begin to doubt his salvation probably because of Sin, Temptations, Stagnancy in Growth, Inability to pray, e.t.c because when humans want to discern whether a person is Christian or not they seek for signs of a prayer lifestyle, Holiness e.t.c, although, those things are necessary realities we must see in a growing Christian, but that's not the God way of telling us that we're His Children. The Word of God made it clear that at salvation we received the Spirit of God and that our Spirit is joint with Him (Romans 8:9). So, it's the ministry of Our Spirit in Partnership with the Holy Spirit that brings the testimony that we are Children of God. So, how does the Holy Spirit in Partnership with our Spirit carry out this operation.
1)Through the administration of Peace and Joy in us; Rick Warren gave us this definition of joy: “Joy is the settled assurance that God is in control of all the details of my life, the quiet confidence that ultimately everything will be alright and the determined choice to praise God in every situation.”
“For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.(Romans 14:17-18, NK JV)”
2)In His comforting us in season of temptations, trials and tribulations
3)His stirring us up to prayer when we find ourselves not praying
4)His reproof of our sins when we Sin
5)His drawing us to works of love, to bear testimony before the world, etc.
Prayer: Father, I thank you for the gift of Salvation, I am grateful for your Spirit that's in me. Lord, I ask that you Continually keep me in you and cause me to grow every day in Jesus name. Amen.
